"No way. The hundred is there."

is the final sentence of the poem "The hundred Languages of Children" by Loris Malaguzzi, founder of the Reggio Emilia approach. It condenses the purpose of Hundred Languages Childcare, a place where children are reminded daily that they have a hundred ways of being, of loving, of thinking, and speaking.

Reggio Emilia is a small city in northern Italy, founded after World War II. Loris Malaguzzi inspired the education experience that is currently known as Emergent Curriculum or Reggio Emilia approach. The service HLCC provides has its roots in this learning philosophy and is the reason for the center's name. In Reggio pedagogy, the atelier (art studio) is the heart of the school and is described as "the place of what is possible". At HLCC the main component is an Art studio where children are exposed daily to multiple materials and techniques. The environment is welcoming and beautiful, and considered as the third teacher. HLCC setting is simple, uses natural materials creating a rich ambiance for learning.
